Six people were killed when a tour helicopter in Hawaii crashed into a lava field
At least six people were killed when a tour helicopter crashed near Hawaii's Big Island on Wednesday evening, officials said
According to Hawaii County public information officer Cyrus Johnasen, all six crash victims were safely evacuated from the scene, but two of them were in critical condition.
The helicopter went down around 5 p.m. near South Point, the Big Island's southernmost point, according to Johnasen. In order to reach the victims, the Hawaii Fire Department dispatched two helicopters, which transported them to the nearest ambulances.
However, the pilot, a man in his 50s, was rescued and found to be in serious but stable condition after he became trapped. The condition of an 18-year-old woman is deteriorating rapidly. There were four people who were able to move around. Their true identities remained a mystery for the time being.

According to Johnasen, it was not clear if all six patients had been taken to the hospital or if the emergency responders were continuing to treat them in the ambulances.The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
